I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to live in the same city as the fabulous Susan Stripling! I’ve known she was here for a long time but never went to her studio to say hi, until last Thursday when I attended her 2-day workshop. Not to sound mushy gushy, but “life changing” might be the only way to describe it. For awhile now, me and most of the photographers I know have been afraid of the bright sun and run to open shade for portraits. No longer! Susan is like a master of light and taught us all how to use the light to our advantage, no matter how harsh or direct. She also happens to be the funniest person ever, I was in stitches the whole two days. I learned she LOVES super long, flowy, wordy blog posts, but I want to post some images from the workshop instead of blabbing all afternoon. (that was a bit of sarcasm…) On a side note, I got to meet a bunch of super cool people from around the country, and enjoyed talking about photography and life with all of you! Keep in touch!

My favorite of the day. Check out the light right on the rim of her face….gorgeous!

Sooo pretty! I’m loving all of the light! Guess this means you’ll have to take more pictures of me soon!
love ya
Ok so now I am even MORE super sad I didn’t go!!!!
But I will pick your brain hehe! We are BOTH def going next time she does one here!
love you!!!!!
way to ga, lady! pretty images. I didn’t get many at all from the first day…those of Karlin are wonderful!
Your photos turned out beautiful! I also LOVE Susan’s work. It’s exciting that we have such amazing photographers right here in Tallahassee.
It was great meeting you at the workshop, Kylene! Your images are lovely—I especially like the second from last. I hope you’re well!

Hey everyone!
I’ve been missing in action! Vacationing actually, in Hawaii with my sister, Sarah. I’m heading home tomorrow afternoon, and then hopping back on a plane to fly to Caifornia. Ryan and I are photographing USC’s graduation and then heading up for a tour of wine country.
But the exciting news is that I’m the featured photographer on the Trash the Dress website! Mark Eric was nice enough to post some of my images on his fabulous website, so go check it out!
*EDIT* Sadly, if you have Internet Explorer it seems to only bring up the first image. Safari brings up a bunch…I’m sad to think that most people will only see the first pic! Hopefully they’ll get it fixed but by then it’ll be buried under a bunch of other posts.
Some more super exciting news is that on May 22 and 23 I’ll be attending a fabulous seminar hosted by the incredible Susan Stripling! I’ll be learning lighting techniques, photoshop tricks and all kinds of other stuff. Susan lives in Tallahassee and runs her studio there, but shoots mostly destination weddings all around the country. She’s been one of the most inspiring photographers for my career, so I’m beyond excited to meet and work with her for 2 days! More on that later!
I’ll leave you with a couple pictures from Hawaii, the view from a hike we went on:

Great stuff on Trash the Dress. I love the location with the old cars – is that in Florida?
Anyways, I’m very happy to have learnt about your site – great work!
So jealous you get to go to see Susan Stripling!!!! I want so badly to go! PS I love love the trash the dress image!!! I tried to email you but for some reason it wouldn’t go through! I got my Pocket Wizards today!!!! Come home soon I need to play and I need a gorgeous model!
Your photos from Hawaii are GORGEOUS!! Wish I could go with you
You have an amazing talent Kylene! Love and miss you!! xoxo
These are the ONLY pictures you posted!!!?? There were so many other great ones. Like um, the ones with me and you in them!

What a crazy week it’s been! Jackie and I drove over to Pensacola on Friday night for our busy Saturday. We woke up super early to photograph the University of West Florida’s graduation ceremony with the Bob Knight Photo crew. Leaving the ceremony it started to pour down rain, and all I could think of was all of Amy’s hard work and that it couldn’t rain on her wedding day! We ran into a Wal-Mart and got some brightly colored umbrellas so we wouldn’t be limited to indoor pictures. We got soaked as we checked out of our hotel and packed up our car, but as soon as we arrived to the church the weather started to calm down. Amy looked incredible in her dress, and her flowers arrived just in time for pictures. The ceremony was super sweet, and then afterwards the sky turned bright blue and big puffy clouds rolled in! It was perfect! I didn’t expect anything less for Amy and Bobby’s special day. We had a blast, and thanks for the wedding cake. It was amazing!
I flew to Hawaii on Monday to spend a week with my sister, so I’m blogging, editing and uploading in paradise. Enjoy the sneak preview, and I expect a lot of comments from all our Knottie friends! I’ll be the first to admit that I probably posted too many pics, but I couldn’t decide! There were too many I loved!
