Cherie & JJ | St. Augustine Engagement October 31st, 2008 by Kylene. Filed in Engagement Love.

I’ll be honest, I used to not enjoy taking engagement pictures. But the last few months it has become one of my favorite things to shoot! I realized that it’s such a good opportunity to get to know the couple so that on the wedding day things flow super smooth. So last Sunday when I met up with Cherie, I also got to meet JJ for the first time. What I learned about him is that he’s super chivalrous, sweet, and loves Cherie like crazy! He kept trying to carry my equipment and he didn’t complain once about spending the entire afternoon taking pictures. (including 3 outfit changes) I can’t wait for your World Golf Village wedding on January 2! It’s coming up so soon! Enjoy your sneak peek, the rest will be up soon!
I asked a couple if we could borrow their bikes for a shot. Cherie thought I was crazy to ask, but I guess over the years I’ve started to be a little braver when it comes to getting the shot that I want.
I think I learned that from my daddy!

I usually have a favorite from a shoot, and I think this is it for me:

Ok, so bed rest has turned me into a COMPLETE blog stalker—but I can”t help it. These are amazing pictures–the color, the final editing–just beautiful. I think my favorite is the vertical one against the Fort wall–I have a thing for wall pics I guess. You have outdone yourself again!
PS~ I posted baby pics on FB!

Well, I hate to brag, but I managed to pull off some amazing weather again last weekend! When I arrived at Stockton Park and started taking pictures the sky was grey and overcast with a few rain drizzles. But just minutes before the ceremony started the sky turned blue and filled with puffy clouds. Krista and Josh deserved nothing more for their special day!
Josh’s uncle is an orchid farmer (I think that’s the right term!) so everything was decked out in gorgeous orchids! A feast for my camera!
A-Mazing:
More beautiful flowers. I loved the unique centerpieces!

Grooms, take a cue from Josh. You don’t even have to smile, just look deep into the lens!
Here’s a before/after picture of the ceremony site. Thank goodness for some blue skies!
Jen got a picture of me in action, and on the bottom is the result:
During the ceremony, Krista’s dad presented Josh with a necklace. On it was the key to a locket that Krista has had since she was little. He had saved it to give to the one man that would hold her heart…there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.

Here’s where Krista gets her great personality from, her wonderful family!
If laughter is the key to a good marriage I think these two have it all figured out:
I think this one has to be my favorite of the day:

This wedding had a lot of fun stories. I hope I get this one right: Josh owned several guns and had to sell 2 of them awhile back. There was one he particularly missed, so Krista bought him the identical gun and strapped it to her leg when he went to get the garter!

Me with the happy couple, and me and Jen Carr my super assistant/umbrella holder/snack packer/errand runner, etc. We decided her nickname should be “Slash” since there’s so many slashes to her title. Thanks for your hard work Jen!

YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome pics!
Oh, how I wish I could have been there. This wedding looks like it was SO much fun! Beautiful pictures (as usual)–I especially love the one under the palm trees and the one on the steps with his head in her lap–just beautiful!
great stuff! That wedding was just the epitome of laid-back fun, and your pictures really captured that!
You are awesome Kylene… your favorite was my favorite too.
Kylene – fantastic job! You were so much fun to work with!
YOU ARE AWESOME!!! THESE PICTURES ARE AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!
Love the shoe shot
Incredible pictures

While we were in England last week I also had the chance to photograph the adorable Rosie. She’s the daughter of some work partners of Ryan, so when we met up to work for the day I brought my camera because I had heard how cute Rosie is. She was a little shy at first, but warmed up pretty quick and I had a new friend by the end of the night. We didn’t have a full blown portrait session, I just grabbed a few pics outside of the office and at dinner. The coolest part about Rosie is that she’s Chinese but has that great British accent! Sooo cute….she could get away with anything at my house.
She saw the birdcage headband I had gotten for Allison and begged to try it on:
Rosie and her gorgeous mom, Maggie:

I had to have one of me and my new little buddy!

I’m in Jacksonville this weekend for Krista and Josh’s fabulous riverside wedding, and then heading to St. Augustine tomorrow for Cherie and J.J.’s engagement session! There’s lots more to come on the blog next week.
SO adorable. I think she rocks the birdcage better than I do!!!!!
She is adorable. Is Maggie one of our London grad friends?
I have been enjoying all your pics from London but this little darling is just too cute. I wish I could hear her British accent. Great job!
Kylene, thank you very much for the lovely photos, your visit to the UK is one of Rosie’s sweetest memories for sure, AND she said “I love this one best” (the photo which has got you with her in, not the one with me!) You made a big impression and I can tell you for sure, she will go to visit you in Florida if she can! We love the pictures, you can tell they have been taken by a real professional and a profesional with feeling for her subjects, something for Rosie and us to cherish for the future. See you in Hampshire soon we hope.
Soo cute. See how good you are with kids?? It’s a sign.

I have never commented before, but I have been viewing your blog for awhile now (I went to Terry Parker with your sister, but she may not remember me). Anyway, Cherie is one of my best friends. I am a bridesmaid in her wedding in January. I love the pictures you took of the two of them. You really captured their love for each other! Cherie really enjoyed working with you and I can’t wait to work with you in January!
